Welcome from our Director:

Hello, my name is Bob Fremin. I am the 2007 Director of the Marietta Georgia Chapter of the Harley Owners Group®. We are glad that you have decided to become part of a great group of fellow Harley riders.

Our chapter was originally chartered in January 1987. We are among the oldest chapters in the State of Georgia. Our sponsor is Earl Small of Earl Small's Harley-Davidson in Marietta, Georgia. Our purpose is to "Ride and Have Fun" and to promote the positive aspects of motorcycling and Harley-Davidson® motorcycle ownership. Our membership consists of fellow riders from all walks of life, each with a passion for riding.

If you like riding your Harley-Davidson more than just looking at it, this is the chapter for you. We did over 50 Chapter rides in 2006. We have annual extended weekend rides as well as organized group rides to Daytona for Bike Week and Biketoberfest. Our members also ride to the Myrtle Beach events, Panama City events, Sturgis and many of the surrounding state H.O.G. Rallies.

We currently have 12 Road Captains who seem to know every back road in the state. Mike Sangster, who is also our Assistance Director, is a walking roadmap for the back roads of Georgia. He also knows many great eating places that are off the beaten path.

Being on the north side of Atlanta, we have easy access to the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains of Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee and our chapter visits them frequently. Again, our members know of some great routes in and around the mountains and are always willing to ride and share the experience with anybody that cares to join them. Overnight trips to the Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge, Deal's Gap and Maggie Valley are currently being planned.

In addition to the many rides that we are able to do because of our normally mild climate, the chapter has a spring picnic, a fall picnic and our annual anniversary party. These events promote the "family atmosphere" among our Chapter members.

Our chapter is very active in both state and local events. We have participated in just about every charity event in the Atlanta area including:

• Ride to Live, an event for the American Diabetes Association®
• MDA ride
• Ride for Kids for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation
• March of Dimes Ride for Healthier Babies.

We also participate in:

• the annual Charlie Maxwell's Ride to Chattanooga for the American Heart Association
• the Trail of Tears Ride from Chattanooga, Tennessee to Waterloo, Alabama commemorating the route that the eastern tribes of American Indians were moved along while being moved to their western reservations
• the Annual Shelby Ride that honors fallen law enforcement officers.

Working with Earl Small's, we are active in the USO Ride (November) and the Kimmer Toys for Tots Ride (December).

Our members routinely volunteer their time to help these charities organize these events as well as assisting where needed with the annual Georgia State H.O.G.® Rally.

If you are in the Atlanta area, I urge you to look us up. Our chapter meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at Earl Small's Harley-Davidson on S. Cobb Drive. Come to the meeting and do some shopping for that t-shirt or elusive piece of chrome, then go out to dinner with us after the meeting to one of the local restaurants for an evening of fine food and friendship.
