Welcome from our Director:

Hello, my name is Allan Owens. I am the new Director of the Marietta Georgia Chapter of the Harley Owners Group(r). We are glad that you have taken the time to stop by and look at our website. Our Chapter hopes that you decide to become part of a great group of fellow Harley riders.

I am honored to be the Director of one of the oldest Harley Owners Group chapters in the state of Georgia. I have been a member of this Chapter since November 2005. In our Chapter I found a family of riders that not only have fun riding but reach out to challenge all to get involved and make a difference. I have been the Activities Director and also the Assistant Director.

Our chapter was originally chartered in January 1987, and is among the oldest chapters in the State of Georgia. Our sponsor is Mark Hulsey of Earl Small's Harley-Davidson in Marietta, Georgia. Our purpose is to "Ride and Have Fun" and to promote the positive aspects of motorcycling and Harley-Davidson(r) motorcycle ownership. Our membership consists of fellow riders from all walks of life, each with a passion for riding.

If you enjoy riding your Harley-Davidson more than just looking at it, this is the chapter for you. We have completed over 60 Chapter rides in the past year. This year our Chapter Tour will include Colleges and Universities which when completed the rider will get a patch, rocker and discounts from our dealership. We have annual extended weekend rides as well as organized group rides to Rolling Thunder, Daytona for Bike Week, Biketoberfest, and a new four corners ride around our great country. Our members also ride to the Myrtle Beach events, Panama City events, Sturgis and many of the surrounding state H.O.G. Rallies.

We currently have a number of Road Captains who seem to know every back road in the state. Mike Sangster, who is also our Assistance Director, is a walking roadmap for the back roads of Georgia. Mike also knows many great eating places that are off the beaten path.

Being on the north side of Atlanta, we have easy access to the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains of Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee and our chapter visits them frequently. Our Chapter is always willing to ride and share the experience with any rider who cares to join us. We have a number of overnight trips to the Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge, Deal's Gap and Maggie Valley just to name a few.

In addition to the many rides that we are able to do because of our normally mild climate, the chapter has a spring picnic and an annual anniversary party. These events promote the "family atmosphere" among our Chapter members.

The chapter works with Earl Small's Harley Davidson on the USO Ride in November. In 2009 the chapter plans to have our inaugural Earl Small Memorial Ride.

Our members routinely volunteer their time to help these charities organize these events as well as assisting where needed during the event. Our chapter also volunteers with the annual Georgia State H.O.G.(r) Rally.

If you are in the Atlanta area, I urge you to look us up. Our chapter meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month at Earl Small's Harley-Davidson on S. Cobb Drive. Come to the meeting, do some shopping for that t-shirt or elusive piece of chrome, then go out to dinner with us after the meeting to one of the local restaurants for an evening of fine food and friendship.
